What is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist?  The child and adolescent psychiatrist is a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy who specializes in the diagnosis and, if indicated, the treatment of disorders of thinking, feeling and/or behavior affecting children, adolescents, and their families. This is done via a 2 year fellowship after general psychiatry trainingA child and adolescent psychiatrist offers families the advantages of a medical education, the medical traditions of professional ethics, and medical responsibility for providing comprehensive care. The child and adolescent psychiatrist uses a knowledge of biological, psychological, and social factors in working with patients.  Child psychiatrists typically do not do traditional therapy.

We are a small boutique practice and that allows us to get to know our patients and their families.  Please note this office is Child Psychiatry of Dallas (now there is another office called Dallas Child Psychiatry with different doctors)

We are unable to handle crisis care due to the small size and nature of this office practice.  We are open on Tuesdays only.   If you anticipate that your child may need more flexibility and availability than this office is able to offer, we recommend you take that into consideration.  The office also follows Lovejoy ISD calendar and is closed on school holidays.

DR JOSHI IS NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS AT THIS TIME  We take Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna (not individual plans), and private pay/fee for service.  Many BCBS and Aetna are outsourcing mental health benefits and therefore may not cover these visits, check with your insurance first.
